Credit Transfer

What is a credit transfer?

Credit transfer means that you may be eligible for exemption from certain exams or courses of your study. Credit transfer may be relevant for you who have already completed parts of or an entire Danish or foreign programme of higher education. If your application for credit transfer is approved, you may be able to shorten the duration of a given programme at KEA. An application for credit transfer is not an application for a study place nor an offer of a study place.

What course credits can be transferred?

Generally, you can be granted credit for courses or exams of a similar educational programme completed at another educational institution.

In some cases, you may be granted credit for courses or exams completed at a different Danish or foreign study programme. In any case, you must be able to document that you have acquired the qualifications and skills stated by the learning objectives for each subject.

How is a credit transfer granted?

Credits are transferred on the basis of a concrete assessment of your application and documentation. When you apply for admission, it is your duty to inform KEA about the programme of higher education that you have completed in whole or in part. KEA is obliged to assess whether or not you can be granted a credit transfer.

You can find the application form here.

Remember to attach any relevant documentation. The documentation must consist of a detailed description of the programme, including documents such as programme regulations, curriculum etc. If you apply for a credit transfer based on employment, you must document your qualifications and skills through references and pay slips. If you have any doubts as to how to apply, you can contact the student counsellor.

Pre-approval of credit transfer

If you wish to know if your credits can be transferred before you apply for admission to a certain educational programme, you can apply for a pre-approval of credit transfer. You can contact the student counsellor at the programme in question to find out if a credit transfer is possible.

However, it is important to stress that the actual credit transfer assessment will not take place until you are admitted to a study programme at KEA.
