New Building Design / Towards a Zero Emissions, Energy-Autonomous Building

This theme will ask groups to look at carbon neutral architecture and also bear in mind the local climate when designing new buildings. Maximise the use of natural renewable energy, maximise the use of natural light to minimise the use of artificial light, natural ventilation, minimise use of new resources and where possible use recycled materials from the local area.

W 3.1A // Bispebjerg Hospital / New Bike Sheds

Bispebjerg Hospital is undergoing a major reconstruction which consists of renovations of existing buildings as well as a new building. Participants in this workshop came up with design solutions for new bike sheds. The sheds should give added value for users and at the same time become an energy resource and serve other purposes. Participants in this workshop worked closely together with 3.1B and 3.1C.

W 3.1B // Bispebjerg Hospital / The Construction Site as a good neighbour

Bispebjerg Hospital is undergoing a major reconstruction which consists of renovations of existing buildings as well as a new building. Planning and communicating effectively and professionally is essential to cause as little inconvenience as possible. Rather than seeing a construction site as a nuisance it should be considered as a good neighbour! How can the site add value to the surroundings? How can it be beneficial to the wide range of users; employees, neighbours and patients? The participants must work closely together with 3.1A and 3.1C.

W 3.1C // Bispebjerg Hospital / Building a new car park (the car park as a welcome carport)

Bispebjerg Hospital is undergoing a major reconstruction which consists of renovations of existing buildings as well as a new building.  The goal of this case was to sketch ideas for a high level car parking facility. It should be large and spacious with as many parking spaces in as few square metres as possible. How to transform a car park in to a place that is welcoming, spacious and uncluttered - both internally and externally? How do you make the transition from the car park to the hospital brief and clear and of course, with a sustainable perspective in mind? Participants in this workshop should work closely together with 3.1A and 3.1B.
