THEME // 4 BUILDING RENOVATION :: kea.dk
Ecoweek

Building Renovation / Reduce, Reuse and Redesign

This theme is more restrictive because the buildings have already been constructed but it will require more innovate thinking to come up with solutions to the problems that already exist. You will have the same goals as those in theme 3 but more barriers to work around.

W 4.1. // Apartment house Sangergården 1 and 2

The goal of this workshop was to develop ideas leading to development of an older housing site (with a special focus on energy optimization). The participants in this case should develop process and ideas in close collaboration with the housing administration in a joint proposal.

W 4.2 // Fynshuse / apartments and surroundings

The goal was to create a proposal for energy efficient renovations for the old housing sites. The buildings are regularly maintained, but participants in this case should outline proposals for e.g. energy saving and renovation, climate adaptation and where you will also be required to identify concrete solutions for the outdoor common areas - creating space for various activities to promote the community feeling. The participants must work closely together with the building administrator SAB/KAB.

W 4.3 // Karen's house as a demonstration project for sustainable construction

Karen's house is owned by the City of Copenhagen and serves as one of the district's cultural centres. The building is on the Danish Heritage Agency's list of protected buildings. The goal in this workshop was to design a plan for the rebuilding of Karen´s house, from the principles of maximum energy savings after renovation. Participants most have in mind the premises set by the Danish Heritage Agency, e.g. to retain most of the original architecture and to recycle as many materials as possible for the rebuilding.

W 4.6 // Fuglekvarterets apartment buildings on Stærevej Greening and rainwater draining

The goal in this workshop was to transform boring, gray, concrete facades to green, inviting facades, where crop can be grown, harvested and sold (e.g. socio-economic business). The green facades could be part of a PR strategy to brand the neighborhood as an exciting neighborhood with many different types of living possibilities.
