E-concept development

E-concept development is a professional bachelor programme that qualifies you to develop concepts within digital platforms on a strategic and practical level.

The education lasts 1½ years and consists of both mandatory and elective subjects, so you can tailor your education specifically to meet your own interests. A special feature is that you can choose to focus exclusively on e-commerce, digital advertising or general digital communication.
In order to study e-concept development, you must have an education as a multi-media designer, e-designer, computer scientist (datamatiker) or design technologist (designteknolog).

FIRST TERM

On the first term, you will work with e-concepts both theoretically and practically through the management of digital projects and user experiences. You will also develop concepts yourself, where you will combine different subject areas such as e-commerce, digital advertising, design, communication, marketing and business understanding. ´

E-concept development and e-project management include instruction in:

  • Development tendencies in international e-commerce, e-marketing, advertising and design, communication, and technology.
  • Experience economics in business and concept development of digital communication, including e-commerce.
  • Analysis of sectors, development of international and local regions, and the need for e-concept development. 
  • Media convergence.
  • Digital genres (e-commerce, social media, e-learning, games, viral films, blogs, campaign sites, podcasting, etc.).
  • Intercultural advertising and design history in relation to digital communication.
  • Sustainability (CSR).
  • User-driven innovation.
  • Project management, where students work in virtual teams and multifarious project groups.
  • Development of requirement specifications, price-setting, sales, and negotiation processes of e-commerce solutions and other digital communication.
  • Inter-cultural negotiation and pitching.
  • Inter-cultural communication.
  • Conflict management.


In the e-concept development and user experience course, you will learn how to carry out scientific, user-driven innovation and user experience.

You will be taught:

  • Theory of science and methodology
  • Scientific study of user demands and requirements, and
  • User participation in concept development (including user-driven innovation)
  • Inter-cultural user-friendliness, user behaviour and information architecture


SECOND TERM

On the second term, you can choose between six elective subjects of a total of 30 ECTS points.  The elective subjects are:


E-design, 15 ECTS:

  • Proficiency in the whole range of cross media, digital design development for e-commerce and other digital communication, and specialised competency in design for specific purposes. 
  • Competency in strategic design concept development in relation to international market requirements and branding.
  • Proficiency in designing intercultural factors into the development of digital aesthetics, design and identity. 
  • Competency in creative design and competency development in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Competency in design for at least two platforms (e.g. mobile telephones, interactive advertising, web, etc.).


E-communication 10 ECTS:

  • Cross-media communication planning and strategy, international markets, media-convergence, and ubiquitous computing.
  • Information architecture and the significance for sales and user experience.
  • Language and text in e-commerce solutions and digital communication.
  • Digital dramaturgy and narrative forms (e.g. storytelling).
  • Manuscript and storyboard types.
  • Digital genres and communication forms (interactive advertising in the urban landscape, social media, e-learning, games, viral films, blogs, campaign sites, podcasting etc.).


E-media production 5 ECTS:

  • Tools and programming languages that support the elective subjects E-communication and E-design.


E-commerce 15 ECTS:

  • Strategic concept development of e-commerce solutions/e-shops in relation to international sectors and markets.
  • Digital strategies for e-commerce (development of business model, business case, strategy process, BtB, BtC, CtC etc.).
  • Strategies for sale and increased sale in relation to measurement of user behaviour and conversion. 
  • Content management.
  • Technology comprehension - ERP systems, payment modules, platforms etc.
  • The importance of e-commerce legislation for the development of e-shop concepts.


E-marketing 10 ECTS:

  • Digital strategies for advertising and marketing.
  • Campaign and media planning (in cooperation with off-line media).
  • Holistic concept development of e-marketing solutions.
  • The importance of international marketing legislation for the development of e-concepts.
  • E-marketing disciplines (search engines, social media, viral, newsletters, etc.).
  • Measurement of e-marketing efficiency.


E-business production 5 ECTS:

  • Tools and programming languages that support the elective subjects E-commerce and E-marketing.


THIRD TERM

The third term commences with an internship period where you experience being a part of a company where you can test the competencies that you have acquired during the education. Read more about the internship under Study structure.

The internship has both a practical, analytical, and theoretical content. You will use elements from at least two of the elective subjects in an analysis of the existing digital communication of your employer in order to study the need for (further) development in the field of digital communication. You will also work with practical tasks related to the education and to your future job wishes.

After the internship you will complete your final project, which will take its point of departure in your experiences from the internship where possible. The final project must be based on a problem formulation that will be illustrated through theory and practical examples.
